Stephen P. Miller

STEPHEN P. MILLER is the managing member of the firm. His practice focuses on litigation and trial practice with emphasis in the areas of workers’ compensation and employment law. Steve obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Memphis and his Juris Doctor degree from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis. While in law school, he was a member of the Law Review and the author of several articles published in the University’s Law Review publication. Additionally, Steve was a member of Delta Theta Phi.

Steve is admitted to the Bar in the State of Tennessee as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. Steve is listed in the Best Lawyers of America in Workers' Compensation Law and regularly conducts lectures and seminars on workers' compensation for various organizations including insurers and employers.

Steve serves as the President-elect for the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association having previously served as the organization’s Secretary/Treasurer and on the Board of Directors. He served as Conference Chair for the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Annual Meeting.

Steve is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel which is an organization of experienced attorneys who have achieved professional distinction and are committed to promoting knowledge, fellowship, professionalism and the administration of justice. Steve is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Tennessee Bar Association, the American Inns of Court, and the Mid-South Workers' Compensation Association. He is also a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.

Steve regularly represents national and regional corporations in administrative employment issues and litigation. He represents numerous self insureds and insurance carriers in a wide variety of litigation matters. Steve is active in his church and a number of charitable organizations. He and his wife, Elaine, have two children, Aubrey and Bennett.

Loys A. "Trey" Jordan, III

LOYS A. “TREY” JORDAN, III is a member of the firm. He concentrates his practice in general civil litigation with extensive experience in complex commercial litigation, class action defense, professional negligence and transportation disputes. Trey was admitted to practice before the Tennessee Supreme Court in 1994. After graduating from the Universityof Tennessee with a B.A. in 1990, Trey earned his law degree from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 1994. While a law student, Trey worked for the University of Memphis Office of General Counsel and served as Law Clerk to the Criminal Court Judges for the Thirtieth Judicial District at Memphis, Tennessee. In 2010, Trey became a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Qualified Mediator and works regularly as both a court appointed and attorney selected mediator to resolve tort and domestic disputes.

Trey is a Member of the American, Tennessee and Memphis Bar Associations and served as a Bar Governor- for the Young Lawyers Division from 1999-2001. Trey was a member in the Leo Bearman Chapter of the American Inns of Court and is an active member of Lawyers Journal Club, to which Trey contributes scholarly works for peer review. Trey regularly lectures on the issues of electronic discovery, defense litigation and deposition strategy, and insurance coverage.

Evan Nahmias

EVAN NAHMIAS is a member of the firm concentrating his practice in commercial and civil litigation as well as providing general legal counsel. Evan is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, magna cum laude, and the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law where he earned distinction through the Dean’s Service Award and the Public Interest Law Society’s student attorney clinic for inner city clients.

Evan is a former law clerk to the Circuit Court of Tennessee for the 30th Judicial District at Memphis. He is admitted to practice in Tennessee, Arkansas, the United States District Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Tennessee, Eastern District of Arkansas and the United States 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Evan is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP), and in 2011 was elected to the Board of Directors for the Memphis Bar Association. Evan serves as a member of the Bridges of Memphis, Inc. Board of Advisors where he assists in its mission to provide experiential, hands-on learning for youth and adults to be leaders in fighting racism, poverty and educational challenges. Evan regularly publishes and presents continuing legal education (CLE) courses in the areas of subrogation, litigation, electronic discovery, and insurance coverage. Evan also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Memphis Jewish Federation. Evan lives in East Memphis with his wife, three sons and their dog. Evan enjoys reading, travel, good music, exercise and good friends.

Lisa A. Overall

LISA A. OVERALL is an attorney with the firm. Lisa obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of San Francisco and graduated cum laude from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis. While in law school, Lisa was a member of Law Review and is the author of “Retaliatory Discharge and In-house Counsel – A Comparative Analysis of State Law in the Wake of the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Decision Crews v. Buckman Laboratories” 33 U.Mem.L. Rev. 629 (2003), and was also a member of the Robert F. Wagner National Moot Court Team. She served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Holly M. Kirby of the Tennessee Court of Appeals and was a Tillie B. Alperin Scholarship recipient, as well as a Cecil C. Humphreys Law Fellowship recipient. She was a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal honors fraternity.

Though Lisa’s practice focuses on litigation and trial practice with emphasis in the areas of worker’s compensation and employment law, she provides assistance and guidance to her clients, ranging from large national and regional corporations to local small businesses, in most aspects of administrative law and litigation matters. Lisa is admitted to the Bar for the State ofTennessee as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. She is also admitted to practice in the State of Mississippi and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi.

Lisa served on the Board of Directors for the Young Lawyers Division of the Memphis Bar Association, during which time she was a Regional Coordinator for the Tennessee State High School Mock Trial Competition. She is a graduate of the Memphis Bar Association’s Leadership Forum and is a member of the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association, as well as the Mississippi, Tennessee, and Memphis Bar Associations.

Lisa is active in the community and currently serves as Lifeline Mentor with the Boys and Girls Club of America at the Downtown Porter Chapter. She is also a member of the Memphis Runners Track Club Board of Directors and spends much of her free time volunteering at local running events. Lisa has run several marathons and raised money for St. Jude Children’sResearch Hospital by running as a St. Jude Hero. Additionally, Lisa enjoys knitting and spending time with her husband, Jeremy, and their three dogs, Jack, Winnie and Stanley.

Joseph B. Baker

JOSEPH B. BAKER, is an attorney with the firm. After graduation from Loyola University of New Orleans (B.S., Magna Cum Laude) in 2006, Joseph attended the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law where he earned is Juris Doctorate degree, Magna Cum Laude, in 2009. After admission to the Tennessee bar in 2009, Joseph served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Holly M. Kirby in the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Joseph was admitted to practice inArkansas in 2010. While in law school, Jospeh was a member of the University of Memphis Law Review Staff 2007-2009 and is the Author of Contracting to Supplement Fair Use Doctrine, 39 U. Mem. L. Rev. 757 (Spring 2009).

Joseph is a member of the Tennessee and Arkansas Bar Associations. Joseph is a big basketball fan and as a season ticket holder since 2008 enjoys supporting the Memphis Grizzlies and dominating the CBHS alumni basketball league.

Henry T.V. Miller

HENRY T.V. MILLER is of counsel to the firm. He received both his undergraduate and law degree from the Universityof Tennessee and has been in practice with McDonald Kuhn law firm since 1959. T.V. has experience in all areas of the law including automobile and trucking liability, premises liability, products liability, pharmaceutical and medical device and is a Certified Rule 31 Mediator. More recently he has limited his practice to products liability and workers compensation matters.

T.V. litigated a nine week trial fire loss based on product liability. He has been involved in pharmaceutical multi-district litigation and as area lead counsel in the breast implant litigation. He is listed in Best Lawyers of America in workers compensation. He served as Chairman of the Workers Compensation Committee for the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and The Defense Research Institute Workers Compensation Committee. He has lectured and given seminars for the Memphis Bar, Tennessee Bar, Defense Research Institute and Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.

Throughout his career, he has been active in various bar association activities including a Board Member of the Memphis Bar. He has served on committees for both the Tennessee and American Bar Association. He was President of the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association, served as Vice-President for the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel as well as Chairman of its Workers Compensation Committee for a period of years. He was State Chairman for the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and served on their Executive Council. He was also State Chairman for the Defense Research Institute. He was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, an Advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates, serving as President of the Tennessee Chapter. He was also selected to the American Inns of Court and Best Lawyers in America. He also served in the Army and is a retired Colonel in the Judge Advocate General Corp of the U.S. Army Reserve.
